Libertine - A quarterly publication for Flinders University Students
Flinders One has developed a new and official student publication on campus, Libertine. The magazine will be distributed quarterly to all students as a limited edition hard copy, available in administration, student spaces, plus food and beverage/retail outlets, potentially reaching 12,000 students each year! There is also talk of an online news ‘blog’, featuring up-to-date articles, reviews and bulletins to support the hard copy publication.
Empire Times was the student newspaper published by the Students’ Association of Flinders University. The newspaper was first printed in 1967. For a number of decades, Empire Times informed the student population at Flinders with its wit and sometimes-controversial material. In 2006, the newspaper ceased publication due to a lack of funding after the introduction of Voluntary Student Unionism (VSU).
With the passing of VSU legislation by the Federal Government, the six student organizations at Flinders University, including: the Flinders University Union, the Sports Association, Post Graduate Students’ Association, Clubs and Societies Association, Flinders International Students’ Association and Students’ Association of Flinders University amalgamated to form one, unified, dedicated and campus focused organization: Flinders One.
In 2008, student media has returned to Flinders University -'Libertine'. With this brand new publication, students are encouraged to work for the magazine and contribute original articles addressing: the arts, film and television, politics, music and other special interests.
New Student Editor
Honors Creative Writing student Delana Carbone is now the new 'student editor'.
